The Pfarrkirche St. Martin in Altdorf is notable for being the first early Baroque church in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, built between 1602 and 1606. Unfortunately, its original interior was largely destroyed in a village fire in 1799 and replaced with a classical style. This church holds a special place in the history of Swiss sacral architecture.
